1. God Himself selected which day of the week is to be called the Sabbath... The 7th Day. (Exodus 20:10) 2. There is no Bible record that this Sabbath has ever been kept on any day other than the 7th day of the week. 3. There is no verse of scripture in the Old Testament or the New that can be quoted as saying that the Sabbath has changed to Sunday. (the 1st Day of the week) 4. The Roman Catholic Church emphatically declares that they changed the day from Saturday to Sunday more than 100 years after the death of the Apostles. 5. The Roman Catholic Church boasts that the Protestant Churches who adhere to the Vatican's 1st day, instead of God's 7th day, are paying homage to the Roman Catholic Church. 6. If we choose to keep the 1st day instead of the 7th day Sabbath, we choose to rebel against God's Command. 7. The 7th day Sabbath is one of the "Ten Commandments" written in stone by the finger of God. (Exodus 31:18) 8. There are actually "ten" Commandments, not "nine". 9. The Ten Commandments, which include the 7th Day Sabbath, are the ONLY part of the Bible that God actually wrote Himself. 10. One can not honestly say they believe in the "Ten Commandments", if they only teach "Nine". 11. Those who say that everyday is now the Sabbath can not offer one verse of scripture which says such a thing. 12. Those who say the Sabbath was made for the Jews disagree with Jesus who taught that the Sabbath was made for man, that is to say "mankind"... spelled M-A-N, not J-E-W. (Mark 2:27) 13. Those who say that the Sabbath is no longer binding because it is the "LAW" fail to apply this logic to the other nine Commandments, which ironically they still teach as binding. i.e Stealing, Lying, Adultery, etc. 14. The above is because those who say the Sabbath is part of the "LAW" are confusing the two seperate sets of law given in the Bible. The first is the "Ten Commandments" written on stone, and meant to be everlasting, and the second is the "law of Moses" written in the "book of the law" containing over 600 temporary laws, cerimonies, and penalties, which were fulfilled by Christ. 15. The Ten Commandments are NOT the temporary "law of Moses" which is fulfilled in the New Testament. 16. God wrote all "Ten" of His Commandments on tables of stone. In contrast, the temporary "law of Moses" was written in a book. 17. God had all "Ten" of His Commandments placed within the Ark of the Covenant. In contrast the temporary "law of Moses" was not kept in the Ark, but rather in the "side" of the Ark (KJV) or "on" the side of the Ark. (Deut 31:26) 18. Those things written in the "law of Moses" are Cerimonial. All ten things written by God on the two tables of stone are His "Commandments" not His "Cerimonies". 19. The 7th day Sabbath clearly stands or falls with the other nine Commandments. 20. The New Testament teaches that if we remove even one of the Ten Commandments, God holds us guilty of them ALL. (James 2:10-12)
So, why do Covenant Apostolics observe the 7th Day Sabbath rather than Sunday?
